How many stripes are there on the American Flag?

American flag is the national flag of United States of America. It is also known as “Stars and Stripes”, “Old Glory” and “The Star-Spangled Banner”. American flag has stripes and stars on it. How many stripes are there on the American Flag?

There are lots of various views about American Flag. Some of them are officially confirmed and some of them are only belief. There is also some different sub meaning of the stripes as people say.

Main belief and formal statement about thirteen stripes is that they are thirteen colonies as Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Georgia, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maryland, South Carolina, New Hampshire, Virginia, New York, North Carolina, Rhode Island.

There are also colors of flag. Red stripes mean British and they are also white stripes cutting them. It means British rule is breaking by American rules.

Also there are spiritual meanings of colors. Red is courage and it takes the color from blood. White is purity and it’s the purity of Jesus. Blue is vigilance and justice.

There’s also a congress declaration about American Flag in 1777. It says red is hardiness, white is purity and blue is the color of the Chief. The star means heaven and stripes are ray of sunlight.

They are 50 stars on the American Flag. They are 50 states of country. There’s also a term 51st state. It means the new state which will join America. Main candidates are Puerto Rico and the District of Columbia.
