How many people climbed to Mount Everest?

Mount Everest is the tallest mountain in the world. It’s over 29,028 feet. Its growth after Indian plate and Eurasian plate collide 60 million years ago. It’s still growing 2.14 inches per year. There’s also a mystical feel of climbing Everest so lots of people climb over it. There are some tops of it for different climber types. How many people climbed to Mount Everest?

First climbers of Mount Everest in modern era were George Mallory and Andrew “Sandy” Irvine in 1924. But its records are not official. First official climb to top of Everest is Sir Edmund Percival Hillary’s climb.

Junko Tabei was the first woman climber to Mount Everest in 1970s. Reinhold Messner was the first solo climber to the top of Everest. The older person climbed to top was Min Bahadur Sherchan as 76 years old. Also Jordan Romero was the youngest one with 13 years old to go top.

It’s not possible to give an exact number but records say over 5.000 climbers went to top of Mount Everest. Especially before 1970, there were climbers but no record. Then Nepal government started to record climbs.

Before 2000s, climbing to Mount Everest was a deadly event. Rate of death on climbing to top was 37%. But then developments in climbing equipment and more experienced guides fall the rate to %4.4. But Mount Everest is still most deadly mountain to climb top. Sometimes Nepal government is not allowing to climb on Mount Everest.
