How many gods in ancient Greece are worshipped?

Ancient Greek period is an mystical period between 8th B:C to 600 AD. There are lots of stories about gods, heroes, world’s nature and more, written in this area. How many gods in ancient Greece are worshipped?

Main Gods of ancient Greek is called twelve Olympians. There are also gods that only a family or a group believe or worship. Some historians say they are over 3.000.

Zeus is the “Father of Gods and men”. His symbols were thunders and eagles. People were afraid of his punishment. He’s father of Hephaestus and Ares.

Zeus’ wife Hera is “the goddess of women and marriage”. Hera was jealous over other goddesses. Her sons from Zeus are known as Ares and Hephaestus.

Her son Hephaestus was the “god of all arts and blacksmiths”. Hephaestus is always known as lame but some new discoveries said it’s some different symbols over his lame position.

Ares was the other son of Zeus and Hera. He represented “violence of war and human”. He was known by military strategies and generalship. He is also known as Aphrodite’s lover.

Poseidon was the “god of sea and earthquake”. He was known as protector of Greek cities. He also known as sender of a sea monster to Troy city that Heracles killed then.

Aphrodite was “the goddess of beauty and pleasure”. Athena was the “goddess of civilization and law”. Apollo is known as “ god of music and poetry”. Artemis was “the goddess of wild”. Demeter was “ the goddess of all harvest” and Hades was “the god of the underworld”. All the Greek Gods also have a reflection on other cultures.
